A major fire has closed a branch of Waitrose in Hove, East Sussex, after a blaze reportedly broke out in the warehouse area of the store. East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service (ESFRS) was called at 3:46am to the supermarket on Nevill Road, Hove.
Fire Service Response
The fire service confirmed that 10 fire engines were in attendance during the height of the blaze. The extent of the damage to the store is currently unknown. Residents are advised to avoid the area as firefighters continue to tackle the fire.
Ambulance Service Statement
A spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance Service said: "Secamb was called by East Sussex Fire and Rescue to reports of a fire on Nevill Road, Hove shortly after 4am this morning. However, crews were stood down as, thankfully, no patients were reported."
