The M67 motorway near Manchester is closed in both directions due to an ongoing police incident, with disruptions expected to last throughout the day.

The motorway is shut between junctions three at Hyde and four at Hattersley in Tameside. National Highways has indicated that the closure is likely to remain in place for the majority of the day due to the nature of the incident.

A spokesperson for GMP Tameside said: 'Please be aware that officers are dealing with an ongoing incident on the M67. While investigations continue, the M67 will be closed in both directions for the majority of the day.'

Drivers are also facing another major road closure in the area. The A628 Woodhead Pass is closed in both directions between Hollingworth and the A616 Flouch roundabout in South Yorkshire due to a serious road traffic collision, according to National Highways.
