Part of the M56 has been closed near Manchester Airport as police respond to an incident. National Highways says the motorway is shut in both directions between junctions two at Sharston and five at the airport this evening (October 17).
Emergency services at the scene
Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service are in attendance at the scene. Queues are building up approaching the area on the M56 and the M60 in either direction.
Local roads affected
Police have also been seen on local roads close to the M56. Further details about the incident are yet to be confirmed. GMP has been approached for details.
