The community of Lisburn, County Antrim, has been left reeling after a newly installed Crimestoppers poster was deliberately destroyed within mere hours of being put up. The brazen act of vandalism has been condemned as a direct attack on community efforts to combat crime.
The poster, erected on the Hillsborough Road, was part of a campaign encouraging residents to report criminal activity anonymously. It was found ripped and destroyed on Wednesday morning, having been intact the previous evening.
Police Condemn "Despicable" Act of Intimidation
PSNI Sergeant Black expressed her dismay at the incident, stating: "This was a despicable act aimed at silencing those who wish to report crime and keep their community safe. It shows the lengths some individuals will go to intimidate and frighten people."
She emphasised that the vandalism would not deter police efforts, adding: "We will not be discouraged by this criminal behaviour. We remain committed to working with the community and our partners to reduce crime and keep people safe."
Community Refuses to Be Silenced

Sergeant Black urged: "We would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Hillsborough Road area to contact police on 101. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously through the Crimestoppers charity."
