Lidl Urgently Recalls Pistachio Ice Cream Over Undeclared Cashew Allergy Risk
Lidl Recalls Pistachio Ice Cream Over Cashew Allergy Risk

Lidl has issued an urgent product recall for its 1001 Delights Dubai Style Pistachio Ice Cream in Northern Ireland and Ireland after discovering the product contains undeclared cashews. The omission poses a serious health risk to individuals with nut allergies.

Recall Details and Health Warning

The affected product is the 300g pack size with a best-before date of December 8, 2027. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) published a recall alert, stating: "This product contains cashew (nuts), making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to cashews." The FSA advised customers who have purchased the item: "Do not eat it. Instead, return it to where you bought it from for a full refund."

Lidl reinforced the warning in its own recall notice: "Lidl Ireland and Northern Ireland is recalling the above 1001 Delights Dubai Style Pistachio Ice Cream due to the presence of cashews, which are not declared in the ingredient list. If you have purchased the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to cashews, we advise you not to consume it. Instead, please return the product to a Lidl store for a full refund, with or without a receipt."

Customer Support and Apology

The supermarket apologised for the inconvenience and directed customers with queries to its customer services team. In the Republic of Ireland, customers can call 019203010; in Northern Ireland, the contact number is 0289568488. Point-of-sale notices are displayed in all relevant stores.

Previous Recall: Ham Products

Earlier in July, Lidl issued another recall for two ham products due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recall applied to Northern Ireland only. The products were Deluxe Honey Roast Carved Irish Ham (130g, batch code 235473, use by July 16, 2026) and Deluxe Triple Oak Smoked Carved Irish Ham (130g, batch code 235461, use by July 16, 2026). The FSA warned that listeriosis symptoms can include high temperature, muscle aches, chills, nausea, and diarrhoea, with severe complications such as meningitis possible in vulnerable groups including the elderly, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems.
