Katie Price is set to be called as a witness when her ex-husband, Kieran Hayler, stands trial on child sex charges. Hayler, 39, appeared at Lewes Crown Court on Tuesday (May 21) where it was confirmed that his trial will proceed in October. Price will give evidence in the case.
Hayler is accused of raping a 13-year-old girl on three separate occasions and one count of sexual assault. The alleged offences are said to have taken place at Price's former home in West Sussex, where Hayler was living with her at the time. The victim, now aged 23, has received support from specially trained police officers.
During the court appearance, Hayler, dressed in a blue suit, white shirt and grey tie, only spoke to confirm his name. He has previously denied the allegations through a legal representative, stating in October: 'Kieran Hayler strongly denies the allegations made against him in its entirety. He is fully engaged and has been cooperating with the police throughout the investigation.'
Hayler, a former stripper and reality TV star, met Price in 2012 and proposed on Christmas Day. They married at a luxury Caribbean resort the following year. Price purchased the £1.35 million home in 2014. The couple later divorced.
Police confirmed the charges in a statement, noting that the victim cannot be named for legal reasons. The trial is scheduled to begin in October.
