Jaguar E-Pace crashes into butcher's shop, misses customer

Dramatic CCTV footage shows a Jaguar E-Pace smashing through the front of Eric Lyons Butchers in Balsall Common, West Midlands, narrowly missing a customer inside. The crash happened on Wednesday, with the vehicle lurching forward as the driver appeared to be attempting to park outside.

The impact sent packets of sausages, steaks, and chops flying across the shop as glass shattered and debris scattered. A customer inside narrowly escaped being struck, while two members of staff scrambled onto the wooden chopping block behind the counter to get out of the way.

Emergency Response and Aftermath

Police and fire crews rushed to Station Road shortly after midday on Wednesday November 4 following the crash. A woman was assessed by paramedics but did not require hospital treatment and was discharged at the scene, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

The smash came just days after the family-run butcher, which dates back to the 1800s, had reopened following renovation work.

Business Impact and Investigation

Butcher Nick Lyons said: "There was a customer in the back right, and two members of staff were behind the butcher's counter and jumped up on the wooden block, so we are all fine." He said the car had caused extensive destruction, ploughing through around "90 per cent" of the shop.

The business will now remain closed until January, although bosses have reassured customers that Christmas orders and deliveries will not be affected. West Midlands Police are investigating the cause of the collision.

A force spokesperson said: "We were called to Station Road, Balsall Common, Solihull, after a car struck a property at just after 12pm on Wednesday. No one has reported any injuries to us. Anyone with information can call 101, quoting log 2012 of 4 November."
