What is a Tracheotomy?
A tracheotomy, also known as a tracheostomy, is a surgical procedure that creates an opening in the front of the neck to insert a tube into the windpipe. This helps patients breathe when the throat is blocked, removes excess fluid and mucus from the lungs, or delivers oxygen from a ventilator.
