A major emergency response is under way in Howdon after a police car was involved in a crash. The collision, on Tynemouth Road, was reported just after 9.30am and has drawn a large 999 presence, with the street taped off.
Street cordoned off by officers
A section of the road has been cordoned off by Northumbria Police officers, and several police cars can be seen in the area. The Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service and the North East Ambulance Service are also on the scene.
