A crash involving a police car in Howdon has sparked a major response from the emergency services. The collision on Tynemouth Road, North Tyneside, was reported just after 9.30am this morning (September 30).

Emergency services have rushed to the scene of the crash, with the street taped off. Several police cars, as well as the North East Ambulance Service, have been pictured in the area.
Police statement
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Shortly before 9.15am today (Wednesday), we responded to a report of a collision involving a police car on Tynemouth Road in Howdon. Emergency services are currently in attendance."
