Four Shot Near Howard University During Homecoming Celebrations

At least four people were shot near Howard University in Washington DC on Friday evening, police have confirmed. The incident occurred at 8.23pm on the 600 block of Howard Place, close to the university's yard and the school of architecture building, as thousands gathered for homecoming festivities.

Police reported that one victim is in critical condition and another in serious condition. A DC emergency services spokesperson stated that seven people were treated for injuries, four of whom had been shot. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether any suspects have been apprehended.

DC traffic police announced road closures due to the investigation, while police confirmed in a separate social media post that the scene was secure. Homecoming events, which began last weekend and continue through Sunday, included a kickoff and a Greek step show on Friday evening, with several more scheduled for Saturday.
