A 13-year-old boy is missing after getting into difficulty while swimming off the East Yorkshire coast, prompting a huge rescue operation.
Emergency services were called at about 6pm to a report that a boy had got into difficulty while swimming at Hornsea, a seaside town. Crews, including Hornsea Inshore Rescue, HM Coastguard and Humberside Police, are involved in the search. The RNLI said its Bridlington all-weather lifeboat also joined the search.
Search operation underway
Ch Supt Phil Booker said: "Our priority now is to find the boy, and members of the public can expect to see specialist Police Search Advisors, along with our Marine Unit and drone pilots, who have also been deployed to conduct an extensive search and rescue operation to locate him."
The search has been ongoing since the evening, with authorities deploying multiple resources to locate the boy.
