Ex-Girlfriend Orchestrates Vicious Honeytrap Attack Filmed on Mobile Phone

A vengeful former girlfriend meticulously planned a honeytrap that led to her ex-partner being brutally assaulted by a gang of masked attackers, with the entire incident captured on her mobile phone. Summer Marl-Brock, aged 21, deliberately manipulated her ex-partner, Benjamin Edwards, by claiming she was alone and intoxicated late at night, prompting him to meet her out of concern.

Premeditated Violence Unfolds in Mold

Mold Crown Court heard detailed evidence about how Marl-Brock secretly coordinated with two men, Aaron Evans, 34, and David Brock, 38, to ambush Mr. Edwards. After luring him to a location outside a shop in August 2024, the attackers lay in wait before launching a savage assault while he was trapped in the driver's seat of his car.

Prosecutor Gemma Gordon revealed that Marl-Brock used her phone to film the beating, with footage showing the three perpetrators laughing before initiating the attack. During the recording, Mr. Edwards can be heard desperately shouting, 'I don't know what I've done - what have I done?' as the violence escalated.

Severe Injuries and Emotional Trauma

The court was informed that Mr. Edwards sustained grave injuries, including significant bruising around his eye sockets, broken skin on his cheek from a human bite, and a fractured jawbone. He also reported that one of his ears was pulled so forcefully during the assault that he feared it would be torn off.

In a poignant victim impact statement, Mr. Edwards expressed the profound emotional toll of the incident, stating, 'I am no longer the same person. I was just trying to help someone in need who I trusted.' The attack has left him with lasting psychological scars, compounding the physical harm inflicted.

Background and Motivations Behind the Assault

Testimony indicated that Marl-Brock and Mr. Edwards had been in a strained relationship for approximately twelve months prior to their breakup. Marl-Brock falsely told the attackers that Mr. Edwards had been violent toward her, which she claimed served as the catalyst for the premeditated revenge attack in Mold, North Wales.

Defence barrister Andrew Jebb highlighted mitigating circumstances for Marl-Brock, noting that she suffered a severe stroke in February and was hospitalised until her discharge on March 10. He explained that she now experiences memory problems and reduced language fluency as a result. Additionally, the court learned that Marl-Brock had received an offer to begin a three-year midwifery degree at the University of Chester, though this opportunity has been jeopardised by her actions.

Court Sentencing and Judicial Remarks

Judge Simon Mills delivered a stern rebuke during sentencing, emphasising that 'the facts make it abundantly clear you three had a plan to take revenge on Mr Edwards for whatever you perceived he had done.' He condemned the 'brutal uncontrolled violence' and described the attack as 'cowardly,' asserting that it 'never would have happened' without Marl-Brock's involvement.

The sentences handed down were as follows:

  • David Brock, of Mold, received a prison term of seven years and two months, along with a three-year extended licence period.
  • Summer Marl-Brock was jailed for four and a half years.
  • Aaron Evans was sentenced to six years and three months in prison.

All three perpetrators were also issued a 15-year restraining order, prohibiting any contact with the victim, Mr. Edwards. This case underscores the severe consequences of premeditated violence and the legal system's commitment to holding perpetrators accountable for such heinous acts.
