Hollyoaks star Davinia Taylor has launched a furious attack on train staff at London's Euston station, accusing them of being 'horrible' and 'inhuman' after she was denied entry onto a train to Birmingham despite arriving three minutes before its scheduled departure. The 48-year-old actress, best known for playing Jude Cunningham on the Channel 4 soap, took to social media to vent her anger, branding the workers 'jobsworths' and claiming they 'sniggered' at her as she struggled with a large suitcase.
Actress Claims Platform Was Empty
In a video she later deleted, Taylor, a mother of four, could be seen sprinting through the station with luggage while ranting about the incident. She alleged that the platform was empty and that the staff refused to let her board even though the train was still there. 'I said: "Look, I'm a woman on her own. I bought the ticket". They'd not even locked the gates. He said: "Sorry love, you can't go, you've gotta be longer before",' she recounted, mocking the worker's shrug.
Taylor, who was part of the iconic Primrose Hill set with Kate Moss in the 1990s, fumed: 'Empty it was, empty. So now I've gotta buy a new ticket. I've been working my a**e off, and these little nasty, nasty little f*****g clipboards.' She added: 'I said: "Do you know what? You're not even human". The platform was empty. Empty, and they both sniggered, sniggered, what the f**k is wrong with people, when they've got a f*****g uniform on. I hope their mothers are embarrassed. Horrible, horrible brats.'
Avanti West Coast Policy on Platform Closure
According to the Avanti West Coast website, platforms at London Euston close two minutes before the train departs. Taylor claimed she arrived at the top of the train at 16:25 for a 16:29 departure, but the staff said she needed to be there three minutes before. She argued that she was within the two-minute window but was still refused boarding. 'I was asking him to radio the lady who was talking to the conductor next to the train and he said no can't do that. Then after another min he said I have to be there three min before. And sniggered,' she posted.
Mixed Reactions from Followers
While many of Taylor's followers supported her, one accused the millionaire's daughter of being 'entitled'. Hitting back, Taylor insisted she was in time and that the staff's attitude was unacceptable. She also claimed that a train manager on the next service advised her to report the staff, saying 'this sort of attitude and behaviour has to stop.' She captioned her video: 'Clipboard computer says no, jobsworth, not my problem. K**heads. Why are SOME of these people in the travel business set on default to be unhelpful? Btw I travel Avanti loads and have met absolute angels... but these two. Yuk.'
A spokesperson for Avanti West Coast told the Mirror: 'We are aware of the customer's experience travelling yesterday and we are currently looking into the circumstances of what happened.'
