Newcastle United are monitoring Switzerland forward Johan Manzambi after his standout performances at the 2026 World Cup in the USA and Canada. The 20-year-old has scored three goals in the group stage, helping Switzerland top Group B ahead of host nation Canada and setting up a last-32 tie with Algeria.
Manzambi's displays build on a strong season with German side Freiburg, where he scored seven goals and registered nine assists in all competitions, helping the club reach the Europa League final. He also netted home and away against German champions Bayern Munich.

When asked before the Europa League final defeat to Aston Villa whether it might be his last game for Freiburg, Manzambi gave a coy response. "I honestly don't know," he told BILD. "My contract runs until 2030. We'll see. Right now, I have to prepare for the World Cup, then we'll see what the future holds for me."
