Michael Ormandy, a 34-year-old former cage fighter and boxer with 'The Hitman' tattooed on his neck, has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 24 years for the murder of his girlfriend Rebekah Campbell. As he was led to the cells at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday, he shouted 'little tramp' and 'little rat'.
Ormandy stabbed Ms Campbell, 32, at her flat in Knowsley Heights, Huyton, on April 15, 2025. She suffered 27 incised wounds, including 18 stab wounds that pierced her left lung and heart. She died the following morning. The court heard she was on the phone to a friend who heard her shout 'get out Mick' before a struggle.
Sentencing, Judge Andrew Menary KC said the killing resulted from 'jealousy, desire to control her and uncontrolled, aggressive rage'. Ormandy had 14 previous court appearances for 31 offences between 2008 and 2022, including past violence and threats.
In a victim personal statement, Ms Campbell's mother Deborah Woolerton said: 'Rebekah, our beautiful daughter... we will never ever be the same without her in our lives.' She described her daughter's desire for a family and the trauma of her death.
Defence counsel Nick Johnson KC noted Ormandy made a 999 call within minutes of the attack, but the judge emphasised the severity of the crime. Ormandy denied murder but was convicted on Wednesday.
