A father's lightning-fast reflexes saved his one-year-old daughter from drowning after she tumbled headfirst into a backyard pool. The dramatic rescue was captured on video.
Instant Reaction Prevents Tragedy
Keoki Silva, 43, was supervising his daughter Aria as she played beside the pool at their home in Bakersfield, California. Without warning, the toddler lost her balance and plunged into the water. Within a fraction of a second, Keoki lunged forward, grabbed her by the ankle, and pulled her to safety. The little girl emerged unharmed, only shocked by the cold water.
Father's Instincts Kick In
Keoki described the moment: "It was pure instinct and adrenaline. The second I saw her falling, I lunged forward, grabbed her securely, and pulled her out safely." He shared footage of the rescue on Instagram, emphasizing that vigilance is essential in parenthood. "Things can change in the blink of an eye. My little girl was so excited to be outside. Then she lost her balance and disappeared under the water. Adrenaline hit like lightning. Thank God a dad's reflexes are like that of a ninja!"
He added that Aria held her breath and didn't swallow water. After the initial shock, she wanted to keep playing by the pool. Keoki believes in letting children experience safe risks to build awareness. "I know some people will wonder why my young child is close to a pool... but this is exactly why. I'm right there actively supervising and guiding them every time."
