The mother of a newborn found at Heathrow Airport remains missing two months after her baby was discovered, with police continuing to appeal for information. The infant, a baby girl, was found in a bathroom at Terminal 4 on 31 January, wrapped in a towel and still attached to her umbilical cord. She was taken to hospital and is now in good health.
Detectives have been unable to trace the mother, who is believed to have given birth alone before leaving the airport. Despite extensive CCTV reviews and forensic analysis, no significant leads have emerged. The mother is thought to be in her 20s or 30s and may have been in distress.
Police have urged the mother to come forward, emphasising that her welfare is the primary concern. “We want to ensure she receives the medical and emotional support she needs,” a spokesperson said. The case has drawn public sympathy, but no arrests have been made.
The baby, nicknamed “Heathrow Baby” by staff, is being cared for by social services. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility that the mother may be from overseas, given the airport’s international connections. The investigation remains ongoing.
