A bachelor party in Oklahoma turned deadly after the groom fatally shot a friend, according to police and local reports. Officers responded to reports of a shooting early Saturday at a home in Broken Bow, where they found 21-year-old Braden Uhlmann suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital but later died.
At the scene, special agents with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spoke to 22-year-old Nolan Engel, who is now accused of killing Uhlmann. Court documents reviewed by local outlet KXII state that Engel made spontaneous statements to arriving officers regarding himself as the shooter.
Engel, who was staying at an Airbnb cabin with friends for his bachelor party, allegedly fired a handgun after hearing knocking and seeing a shadow outside the cabin. He and a friend went outside and found Uhlmann had been shot in the chest.
Engel was arrested and booked into McCurtain County Jail for second-degree murder. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said there were no other injuries reported and the investigation is ongoing.
Broken Bow is in southeastern Oklahoma, more than 200 miles from Oklahoma City, and is described as a major tourist area.
