A drug gang leader who attempted a 'Hot Fuzz-style' escape by jumping over fences has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after police seized cocaine worth £1.3 million. Marc Kane, 43, from Gorleston, was found hiding in a shed following a raid on 1 August 2024.
Details of the Operation
Police raided a house on John Road in Gorleston, uncovering 10 kilograms of high-purity cocaine with an estimated street value of £1 million. During the operation, Kane tried to evade capture by leaping over garden fences in a manner reminiscent of the popular film 'Hot Fuzz', but officers eventually located him concealed in a nearby shed.
Sentencing and Convictions
Kane pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and was sentenced on Friday, 8 May 2026, at Norwich Crown Court. Six other members of the organised crime group also received jail terms after admitting their roles in the conspiracy to distribute the drug in the Great Yarmouth area.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Thompson of Norfolk Police said: 'This was a significant operation that dismantled a dangerous drugs network. The sentences reflect the severity of their crimes and the harm they caused to the community.'
The case highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug trafficking in the region.
