Fire crews are battling a large-scale industrial fire at Llantrisant Recycling Centre in Rhondda Cynon Taf, with an operation ongoing since the early hours of Thursday morning.
Emergency Response Details
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service has deployed eight fire appliances, four water bowsers, an aerial ladder platform, and a range of specialist equipment. Specialist drones are also being used to support firefighting efforts.
Residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke in the area, according to a statement from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service. The service is working with South Wales Police and Public Health Wales to manage the incident.
Road Closures and Public Advice
South Wales Police have implemented road closures to allow emergency services to respond. The force stated: "We're at the scene of an incident at Llantrisant Recycling Centre. The road is currently closed in both directions between Heol Y Sarn with Ford Pritchard and Llantrisant road junction with Heol Ddu. It is expected to remain closed for some time; please avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. We're grateful for your patience."
