Gardai have launched an investigation after a man died at the Love Is A Stranger Festival in East Cork on July 19. The man, reportedly in his late 40s, was found unresponsive in his tent at Ballyvolane House near Fermoy. Despite emergency services attending, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Festival Cancelled
The remainder of the festival has been called off. The tragic news has been shared with the man's family, according to Cork Beo. In a statement, the organisers said: "We are absolutely devastated to learn of the death of a festival attendee today. Our thoughts are with the individual's family, friends, and loved ones at this extremely difficult time."
The organisers added: "We are assisting An Garda Síochána and the emergency services in every way possible, and will not comment further while their inquiries are ongoing. Out of respect for those affected, today's closing concert has been cancelled. We would like to thank the emergency services, our crew, volunteers and attendees and hosts for their support and understanding."
Investigation Underway
Gardai have not released further details about the circumstances of the death. The festival, which began earlier this week, was held on the grounds of Ballyvolane House, a historic venue in County Cork. The cancellation affected the final day's events, including the closing concert.
