A man who posed as a doctor and performed illegal circumcisions in a cabin in the woods has been jailed. Joshua Chubbs, 23, pleaded guilty to offering unlicensed circumcision services in a case that has shocked the community.
Chubbs, who claimed to have trained in pediatric urology, was charged in February after approaching a woman on Facebook and offering to circumcise her seven-year-old son. The woman reported him to the authorities after becoming suspicious.
During the investigation, it emerged that Chubbs had allegedly performed at least 50 procedures, despite having no medical licence. He worked as a mortician at a funeral home but had not completed his apprenticeship.
The court heard that Chubbs' actions were 'profoundly dangerous' and could have caused serious harm to his victims. He was sentenced to a term of imprisonment, though the exact length was not disclosed.
In a statement, the woman who reported him said: 'It's a scary thought to think this is going on in a cabin in the woods.' She urged parents to be vigilant and only seek medical procedures from qualified professionals.
