A section of East Lancashire Road in Haydock was closed in both directions for several hours on Monday night, June 8, following a police incident. The road has now fully reopened.
Closure Details
The eastbound carriageway was reopened later on Monday evening, but the westbound side remained shut until Tuesday morning, from M6 J23 (Haydock) to Kenyons Lane South. Emergency services were called to the scene, and traffic was slow in the area.
Police Response
Merseyside Police closed the road at around 11:20 p.m. on Monday. The force has been asked for more information about the nature of the incident. As soon as details are provided, updates will be shared.
According to INRIX traffic data, travel time on the eastbound section between A58 Liverpool Road (Pewfall Traffic Lights) and M6 J23 was around ten minutes during the closure.
Reopening
Police confirmed that the road was fully reopened on Tuesday morning. The westbound section, which had been closed overnight, is now clear.
