A 21-year-old chef has tragically died after his e-scooter collided with a fire truck that was responding to an emergency in Dartford, Kent. Tommy Jarvis was returning home from his job at Miller & Carter on Monday evening when the incident occurred at the junction of Princes Road and Darenth Road around 10:45 pm.
Details of the Incident
Police and paramedics rushed to the scene, and Jarvis, a former Dartford Science and Technology College student, was taken to a London hospital in critical condition. He later succumbed to his injuries. Kent Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the fire truck was travelling to a reported emergency at the time of the collision.
Tributes to Tommy Jarvis
An online fundraiser set up to raise £5,000 for a church service has been flooded with tributes. The page reads: 'He was so young with so much life still ahead of him. Anyone who knew Tommy knows just how special he was. He was kind, caring, loyal, and loved by so many. There will never, ever be another Tommy like him!' The statement also claimed that Jarvis had been 'waiting at the crossing for the green man signal' and stepped onto the crossing after receiving it before being 'tragically struck by an oncoming fire truck.'

Ann Millington, chief executive of Kent Fire and Rescue Service, expressed condolences and confirmed a legal process is underway. 'We are fully committed to supporting Kent Police's investigation, as well as conducting our own internal investigation,' she said.
