
Gardaí in Dublin have launched a public appeal for information following a violent assault in the heart of the city centre. The incident, which left a woman with significant facial injuries, occurred on D'Olier Street in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Investigators are urgently seeking to identify a man described as having an English accent, who is believed to be a key witness or potentially involved in the altercation. The suspect is described as being approximately 5'8" in height with a slim build and short brown hair.
Details of the Assault
The attack took place near the junction of D'Olier Street and Fleet Street at approximately 12:40 am. According to Garda reports, the victim sustained serious injuries to her face during the altercation and required immediate medical attention.
Irish law enforcement has released specific details about the individual they wish to speak to. The man was seen wearing a distinctive black puffer jacket with a large white logo on the back, black tracksuit bottoms, and black trainers at the time of the incident.
Public Appeal for Information
Gardaí have established an incident room at Dublin's Store Street Garda Station and are conducting a thorough review of CCTV footage from the area. Detective Garda Brian Jennings emphasised the importance of public assistance in the investigation.
"We are particularly anxious to speak to this English-speaking man who was in the vicinity at the time," stated Detective Garda Jennings. "We believe he may have crucial information that could assist our investigation into this serious assault."
Authorities have urged anyone who was in the D'Olier Street or Fleet Street areas between 12:30 am and 1:00 am on Wednesday to come forward. The police are also appealing to motorists with dash-cam footage that might have captured relevant events.
