A 56-year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital after a three-vehicle crash involving a police car near Mauchline, East Ayrshire.
The man was driving a Seat Mii on the A76 at Kingencleugh at 2.40pm on Friday, August 28, when it collided with a marked police car and a BYD Dolphin.
Emergency response and injuries
Police, three Scottish Fire and Rescue Service units, and paramedics attended the scene. Firefighters extricated the 56-year-old, who was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow by air ambulance, where his condition is described as critical.
The driver of the BYD Dolphin and the two officers in the police vehicle did not require hospital treatment.
Investigation and appeal
The A76 was closed in both directions following the crash. Police Scotland have launched an investigation and are urging anyone with dash-cam footage from the area to come forward.
Sergeant Gordon Stewart said: "I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the crash to contact us with any information. If anyone has dash-cam footage, please check it as it could have captured images which could assist our enquiries."
