Doctor Who Killed Dad of Two in Hit-and-Run Jailed for Just 10 Months
Doctor jailed for 10 months over fatal hit-and-run

A doctor responsible for the death of a father of two in a devastating hit-and-run incident has been handed a mere 10-month prison sentence, leaving the victim's family in disbelief and anger.

The tragic collision occurred when Dr. Rida Al Mousawi, 24, struck 41-year-old Matthew O’Neill as he crossed the road in his hometown. Al Mousawi fled the scene, only to be arrested hours later.

Family's Heartbreak

Matthew’s grieving widow, Laura, expressed her fury at the lenient sentence, stating that justice had not been served. "Ten months is nothing compared to a lifetime without him," she said in an emotional statement.

Courtroom Outrage

During the trial, it was revealed that Al Mousawi had been driving without due care and attention. Despite the severity of the crime, the judge cited the doctor’s "previous good character" as a mitigating factor in the sentencing.

The case has reignited debates about the adequacy of punishments for hit-and-run offences in the UK, with many calling for stricter penalties to deter reckless driving.
