The remains discovered in an impounded Tesla reportedly belonging to singer d4vd have been identified as those of a missing teenage girl, authorities confirmed. The Los Angeles County medical examiner's office identified the body as Celeste Rivas, 15, who vanished in April 2024 from Lake Elsinore, California.
The body was found on 8 September at a Hollywood tow lot after a stench was noticed. Officials have not determined the cause of death, but the Los Angeles Police Department is treating it as a homicide. Rivas was 13 when she was last seen.
Local news outlets reported the black Tesla was registered to d4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, 20. Authorities have not implicated the singer in her death. An unnamed representative for d4vd told NBC Los Angeles that he has been cooperating with police since the body was discovered.
The car had been towed from the Bird Streets neighborhood in the Hollywood Hills, where it was abandoned earlier in September. LAPD executed a search warrant at a Hollywood Hills home where the singer had been staying.
D4vd, a Houston-born singer-songwriter, rose to fame with hits like 'Romantic Homicide' and 'Here With Me,' which have amassed over 1.5 billion streams on Spotify. He was on a US tour when the remains were found but has since cancelled the remainder, according to TMZ.
