Two men from Croydon have been handed prison sentences following a violent carjacking and a dramatic high-speed chase through the streets of London.
The pair, who stole a BMW at knifepoint before leading police on a dangerous pursuit, were sentenced at the Old Bailey this week.
The Carjacking
The incident began when the victim was threatened with a knife and forced to surrender his BMW. The attackers then sped off, weaving through traffic and ignoring red lights in a desperate bid to evade capture.
The Chase
Police quickly located the stolen vehicle and gave chase. The pursuit reached dangerous speeds, with the BMW narrowly avoiding collisions with other road users. Officers eventually managed to bring the vehicle to a stop using tactical maneuvers.
Sentencing
At the Old Bailey, both men received significant prison terms for their roles in the crime. The judge described their actions as "reckless and terrifying" for both the victim and members of the public.
This case highlights the ongoing issue of violent vehicle crime in London and the risks offenders are willing to take to avoid justice.
