Two men remain in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a stabbing incident in Covent Garden, central London, on Wednesday afternoon. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that two of the four male victims are still receiving treatment, while the other two have been discharged.
In a statement, the Met said: "Four men - aged 34, 39, 42, and 52 - were found with stab wounds and assessed at the scene by paramedics. They were taken to hospital where two remain with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening or life changing. The other two victims have since been discharged."
Arrest and Investigation
A 47-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and possession of an offensive weapon. Officers have stated they are not seeking any other individuals in connection with the incident, which is believed to be isolated.
Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart said: "While still at an early stage of the investigation, we would like to reassure the community that we currently believe this to be an isolated, mental health-related incident."
Incident Details
The incident occurred on Endell Street at approximately 12:30pm on Wednesday, prompting a significant emergency response. The London Air Ambulance landed in nearby Trafalgar Square, but all four victims were transported to hospital by road. A pair of scissors was recovered at the scene.
A police cordon from High Holborn across part of Endell Street was lifted as the investigation continued. Officers were seen speaking with individuals at the nearby St Mungo's homeless centre before the area was reopened. Police have confirmed the investigation is in its early stages, and a visible presence will remain in the area while enquiries proceed.
