A major murder investigation has been launched by Greater Manchester Police after the body of a cleaner was discovered horrifically stuffed inside a wheelie bin.

The grim find was made on Warth Road in Radcliffe, Bury, on Tuesday afternoon, sending shockwaves through the local community. Emergency services, including police and paramedics, raced to the scene but the individual was pronounced dead.

Authorities have confirmed they are treating the death as suspicious and have launched a full-scale murder inquiry. A significant police presence remains at the cordoned-off scene as forensic teams work meticulously to gather evidence.

Detective Superintendent Lewis Hughes of GMP's Major Incident Team is leading the investigation. "This is a truly shocking discovery and our thoughts are with the victim’s family and loved ones at this devastating time," he stated.

"We are in the early stages of our investigation and are working tirelessly to establish the full circumstances surrounding this death. A dedicated team of officers is following multiple lines of enquiry."

While formal identification is yet to take place, the victim is believed to be a local man who worked as a cleaner. A Home Office post-mortem examination is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.

Police are now urging anyone with information to come forward. Detectives are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the Warth Road area on Monday or Tuesday and may have witnessed anything unusual.

Residents have expressed their horror and disbelief. One local described the area as "usually very quiet," making the grim discovery all the more alarming. The community is being supported by officers as the manhunt for the perpetrator continues.
