The incident is unfolding at Childwall Sports and Science Academy, where a letter to parents confirmed that the lockdown is a precautionary measure aimed at ensuring the safety of both students and staff.
Details of the Incident
Merseyside Police reported that a threat was made towards a pupil, believed to have originated from a teenager. The report was received just before midday on Thursday, 14 May. Officers, including a dedicated Safer Schools Officer, are currently at the school to provide reassurance and conduct enquiries. The police have stated that there is no believed wider threat to any other pupil or staff member.
Parents' Response
Parents have been seen gathered outside the academy, with images showing a crowd of people near the entrance. The school's letter advised parents not to attend the premises, as staff are focused on managing the situation. Further updates will be provided as soon as it is safe to do so.

Merseyside Police issued a statement saying: "We can confirm officers are currently in attendance at Childwall Sports and Science Academy following a report of a threat towards a pupil which is believed to have come from a teenager today, Thursday 14 May. There is not believed to be any wider threat to any other pupil or member of staff at the school. Officers, including a dedicated Safer Schools Officer, are currently at the school to provide reassurance, and enquiries are being carried out into the incident. The decision to lockdown the site has been made by the school."
The lockdown remains in effect as police continue their investigations. The school has not yet announced when normal activities will resume.
