Elijah Blue Allman, the 49-year-old son of legendary pop star Cher, is scheduled to face trial in Concord, New Hampshire on June 16. This legal proceeding stems from his arrest on February 27 at a local preparatory school, where he was taken into custody following an alleged disturbance.
Legal Proceedings and Charges
According to reports from WMUR, Allman has waived his arraignment on multiple criminal counts. The charges include two counts of simple assault, along with single counts of criminal trespass, criminal threatening, and disorderly conduct. The incident occurred at St. Paul's School, where Allman had no known connections or affiliations.
Witnesses described Allman as 'causing a disturbance and acting belligerently' in the school's dining hall during the February incident. This was not his only encounter with law enforcement in recent months.
Subsequent Arrest and Detention
On March 2, just days after the initial incident, Allman was arrested again in Windham, New Hampshire. Authorities allege he broke into a private residence, leading to additional legal complications. Following this second arrest, a Salem District Court judge ordered Allman to be held on preventive detention ahead of his scheduled hearing.
Currently, Allman remains incarcerated at the Rockingham House of Corrections in Brentwood, New Hampshire. His legal troubles have been compounded by personal health issues, including a hospitalization for a drug overdose in California on June 14 of last year.
Cher's Conservatorship Petition
In a significant development last Friday, Cher filed for conservatorship over her son's estate for the second time. The 79-year-old music icon described her son as 'gravely disabled' with 'severe mental health and addiction issues.' She has requested the appointment of a temporary conservator to manage Allman's financial affairs and personal estate.
Court documents obtained by the Daily Mail reveal concerning details about Allman's financial situation. Cher claims her son 'has no concept of money' and owes substantial debts, including $200,000 in taxes, $18,000 to a drug dealer, and $50,000 for damages to an Airbnb property. The documents also indicate he has been banned from 18 different hotels.
Alarming Incidents and Family History
The conservatorship filing includes disturbing accounts of Allman's behavior, including one incident where he was found unconscious behind the wheel of his car, causing a traffic obstruction. Emergency responders administered Narcan to revive him during this medical emergency.
This represents Cher's second attempt to gain conservatorship over her son's affairs. Her initial petition in 2023 was denied by an LA Superior Court judge in 2024 after Allman insisted he was 'sober, paying his bills and committed to managing payments from his late father's estate.' Allman reportedly receives $10,000 monthly from his father's estate.
The musician's struggles with substance abuse reportedly began early, with marijuana and ecstasy use starting at age 11. His family history includes his father Gregg Allman's severe addictions to alcohol and heroin, which contributed to Cher's divorce from the musician after three years of marriage in 1979.
Family Dynamics and Personal Life
In a surprising family revelation last year, Kayti Edwards – step-granddaughter of Julie Andrews – disclosed that she had secretly welcomed a daughter, Ever, in 2010 following a brief affair with Allman. Initially hesitant to introduce the child to Cher due to concerns about her reaction, Edwards eventually brought 15-year-old Ever to meet the pop star at her Malibu estate last September.
'Elijah and his wife always said Cher didn't want to be a grandma and to keep Ever away, so I was nervous to introduce her,' Edwards told The Sun. 'But it's been nothing but a good experience.' During the visit, the family swam in Cher's pool, toured her walk-in closet, and shared dinner together.
Cher is also mother to 57-year-old transgender son Chaz Bono from her marriage to Sonny Bono, which ended in 1975. The music legend, who celebrates her 80th birthday on May 20, continues to maintain an active career while navigating these complex family matters.
A court hearing regarding Cher's conservatorship filing is scheduled for this Friday, adding another layer to the ongoing legal proceedings surrounding Allman's case.
