A quiet street in St Helens, Merseyside, has become the centre of a murder investigation following a tragic domestic incident that claimed the life of 47-year-old Charlie Kirk.

Emergency services were called to a property on Birchley Road in the early hours of Tuesday morning following reports of a shooting. Despite their efforts, Mr Kirk was pronounced dead at the scene.

Merseyside Police have confirmed the arrest of a 47-year-old woman, understood to be his wife Leanne Kirk, on suspicion of murder. She remains in custody for questioning as detectives work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the event.

The news has sent ripples of shock through the local community. Neighbours have described the Kirks as a seemingly ordinary couple, making the event all the more devastating. Police have cordoned off the property while forensic examinations are carried out.
