Chaos erupted at a performance of Sleeping Beauty in Torquay starring former EastEnders actress Emma Barton after police were called to the Princess Theatre. A 31-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
The woman had been behaving in an 'anti-social manner' during the pantomime, prompting an off-duty police officer to escort her out of the venue. She allegedly pushed the officer and was subsequently taken into custody.
Emma Barton, who played Honey Mitchell on EastEnders and later appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, plays the wicked witch Carabosse in the production. The incident caused disruption for audience members.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: 'It was reported that a woman had been behaving in an anti-social manner during the pantomime performance at Princess Theatre, Torquay, yesterday afternoon. After engaging with the woman, an off-duty police officer escorted her from the theatre, during which time she pushed him. A 31-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker. She remains in police custody.'
