A car crashed into a passenger terminal at Detroit Metropolitan Airport on Friday, marking the second such incident at the airport in recent months. The vehicle, an SUV, breached the concrete barriers along the curb and entered the Evans Terminal, according to photos posted by local TV stations. A man was seen in handcuffs outside a police car.
No Serious Injuries Reported
The airport confirmed via social media platform X that no serious injuries had been reported. Phone and email inquiries for further details were not immediately answered. The Evans Terminal serves more than a dozen air carriers at the airport located in suburban Detroit.
Witness Account
Sedeq Arshuhtpi, an airport employee, described the scene to WDIV-TV: "It was scary, man, like, we didn’t know what to do. We don’t know what’s inside that car. There’s a lot of people around. There could be a threat, so everybody was nervous."
In January, a similar incident occurred when a man drove his car into the airport's McNamara Terminal. The driver exited the vehicle yelling incoherently and was subsequently arrested. Authorities are investigating the latest crash to determine how the SUV bypassed the concrete barriers and whether any charges will be filed.
