Bruce Springsteen issued a prayer for US President Donald Trump during a concert on Sunday, April 26, following an assassination attempt at the White House Correspondents' Dinner the previous night.
The musician, speaking on stage as part of his Land Of Hope And Dreams tour, expressed gratitude that no one was injured in the incident. "We begin tonight with a prayer for our men and women in service overseas... We also send out a prayer of thanks that our president, nor anyone in the administration, nor anyone attending, was injured at last night’s incident," he said.
Springsteen, a long-time critic of Trump, condemned political violence regardless of political differences. "We can disagree... but there is no place in any way, shape, or form for political violence of any kind in our beloved United States," he added.
The singer has previously called Trump a "moron" and endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election. Trump has responded by calling Springsteen "mentally ill" and a "dried up prune" on social media.
The assassination attempt occurred on Saturday night when shots were fired outside the dinner, prompting Secret Service to evacuate Trump, Melania Trump, and other officials to safety.
