A 13-year-old boy has died following a house fire in Blackpool that police believe was ignited by an e-bike. The boy, identified as Coby Keogh, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, July 5, after the blaze on Redcar Road on June 30.
Emergency Response and Victims
Emergency services were called to the property at 9:37 am on Tuesday, June 30. Two individuals were hospitalised with serious injuries: Coby Keogh and a 19-year-old man, Joey Gregory. Three other occupants sustained minor injuries. Lancashire Police confirmed Coby's death in a statement on July 6.
Police Statement and Investigation
A force spokesperson said: "Our thoughts are with Coby's loved ones at this time, and they are being supported by specially trained officers. A file will be prepared for HM Coroner." The investigation is being conducted jointly by Lancashire Police and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service. Officers stated there is no evidence of third-party involvement and believe the fire was caused by an e-bike.
Family's Heartfelt Plea
Joey Gregory remains in a serious condition in hospital. In a Facebook post on July 4, his mother wrote: "We were told on Tuesday that the first 24-48 hours were critical. Then they said 72..... We are on day 5 and my boy is still here. Keep fighting sunshine, we ain't going nowhere. We are so lucky to have such amazing family and friends. My boy is so loved. I don't know where we are finding the strength from. Please keep praying."
