A baby has tragically died after suddenly becoming unwell at a home in Shildon, County Durham. Emergency services were called to a house on Larch Avenue shortly after 8.45am on Saturday, where the child was reported to be unwell.
The baby was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later, Durham Constabulary confirmed. The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
A spokesperson for the force said: 'Our thoughts are with the baby’s family at this difficult time.' The North East Ambulance Service also offered its condolences, stating: 'We send condolences to all those affected.'
