A 66-year-old woman has died in hospital following a crash on the A70 Muirkirk Road near Cumnock. The woman has been named as Jaqueline Young, from Cumnock.
Crash details
The incident took place around 8.05am on Friday, October 2, 2026, and involved a pedestrian and a white Range Rover Evoque.
Jaqueline had been taken to hospital for treatment, but has since passed away. Her family have requested their privacy is respected at this time.
Police appeal
Sergeant Brian Simpson said: “Our thoughts are with Jaqueline’s family and friends at this tragic time.
“We are carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances and we continue to appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash, or has dash-cam footage from the area to please come forward.
“We know that motorists drove through the scene immediately after the crash. We are particularly keen to speak with the drivers of a dark-coloured saloon vehicle and a teal-coloured pick-up truck with a cab on the back. These drivers may have information which could assist with our investigation.”
