A 61-year-old man has been arrested on the Orkney island of Flotta following a report of threatening and abusive behaviour. Armed police officers travelled from the mainland to the small island on Thursday afternoon.
Police operation on Flotta
Officers in three police vehicles travelled to the Orkney Islands before taking an inter-island ferry to Flotta. The warrant was executed at around 4.15pm, and the man was arrested in connection with the incident, according to BBC Scotland.
Flotta is one of the smallest inhabited Orkney islands, located between Hoy and South Ronaldsay in the south of the archipelago, with a population of around 80 people.
No further risk to public
No further details of the nature of the incident have been released, but police have reassured the public there is no further risk. Chief Inspector Scott Robertson said inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
Islanders reported seeing the convoy travelling at speed on Mainland, Orkney before travelling to Flotta. The police presence on the island drew attention from residents, who observed the officers boarding the ferry and arriving at Flotta pier.
