Jadon Sancho offered escape route by Getafe after Man United exit

Jadon Sancho has been offered a contract by La Liga club Getafe, according to reports from The Times, providing a potential escape from his current free agency.

The winger has been without a club since his Manchester United contract was allowed to expire in June, ending a five-year association with the club that never lived up to expectations.

Career since leaving United

Sancho, who has won 23 caps for England, joined United from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 to much fanfare but struggled to hit the heights expected of him before falling out of favour with multiple managers.

He rejoined Dortmund on a short-term loan in 2024 before moving to Chelsea on loan the following season, with the Blues paying a £5m penalty fee to avoid their obligation to buy him.

After a third loan spell at Aston Villa last season, Sancho's United contract expired and he entered the current campaign without a club. Dortmund had reportedly shown interest in a third stint, but nothing materialised.

Getafe's offer and current form

The terms of Getafe's offer are not yet clear, but it is reported that manager Jose Bordalas holds Sancho in high regard and believes he can help inspire an upturn in the club's form. Sancho is now considering the offer.

Bordalas' squad currently lacks an out-and-out right winger, with right-backs and strikers both deployed in that position in recent weeks.

Getafe have had a difficult start to the season, sitting 14th in La Liga with eight points from their opening eight matches. They are also competing in European competition this year, facing Romania's Universitatea Craiova in their Conference League opener this week.
