A 65-year-old woman in Alabama has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting her husband because she was irritated by his constant attention while recovering from heart surgery.
Sheri Mitchell-Clutts called 911 on Sunday evening to report that her husband, Timothy Clutts, 69, had been shot. Deputies found him dead in a recliner from a single gunshot wound to the chest at their home in Russellville.
Initially, Mitchell-Clutts told dispatchers she had felt threatened throughout the day, but later admitted to investigators that she simply became annoyed with her husband, according to Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver.
Mitchell-Clutts said she had undergone open heart surgery about two weeks before the shooting and that her husband repeatedly came to her room, which irritated her. She then took a handgun, waited for him to return, and shot him once in the chest.
Sheriff Oliver noted that her demeanor was upset at the scene, but investigators are still examining the couple's history. They have found no domestic-related calls to the residence in the past six years.
Mitchell-Clutts remains in Franklin County Jail without bond, charged with murder.
