Aigburth shooting: Police cordon off Linnet Lane after gunfire

Police have cordoned off a street in Aigburth after shots were fired at a block of flats on Thursday night. Officers received reports at around 11pm on November 6 that damage had been caused to a property on Linnet Lane, off Lark Lane.

At the scene, officers found evidence that a gun had been fired. No injuries have been reported at this stage, and a cordon remains in place while police appeal for information.

Evidence of gunfire found

Pictures taken at the scene by the ECHO show a bullet hole in a window of one of the flats. Uniformed and forensic officers are currently at the scene.

Detective Inspector Chris Clark said: “We are in the very early stages of an investigation and officers remain at the scene to carry out potential CCTV and house-to-house inquiries.”

Appeal for witnesses

Clark added: “I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information which could help us with our inquiries to come forward.”

He also reassured the community, saying: “I would also like to reassure the community that we are determined to find the person or people responsible. Our officers immediately respond to incidents such as these involving guns and are actively working to make Merseyside a safer place to live and work.”
