Police have launched a probe into a wilful fire which engulfed an industrial estate in West Lothian.
Emergency crews rushed to Deans Industrial Estate on Caputhall Road in Livingston on Sunday, June 14. An alarm was raised around 3.20pm when fire crews received reports of a blaze.
Four appliances, as well as one height appliance, were deployed to tackle the raging inferno. Firefighters remained on site until 12.48am on Monday.
It's understood that the fire took place inside a derelict building and no one was injured. However, officers, who taped off the scene, are now treating the flaming building as wilful and have launched an investigation.
Photos and videos taken at the scene, and shared with the Record, show bright orange flames bursting through the roof of a building. The fire rips through the structure as thick, black smoke billows into the sky.
Locals shared their concern at what was unfolding on social media as they passed by. Some reported seeing the blaze from places including Culross and on the road to Burntisland.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.30pm on Sunday, 14 June, 2026, officers received a report of a fire on Caputhall Road, Livingston. The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 3.20pm on Sunday, 14 June to reports of a derelict building fire at Deans Industrial Estate, Livingston. Operations Control mobilised four appliances and a height vehicle to the scene and crews left at 12.48am on Monday, 15 June after working to make the area safe.
