Paul Ferris' widow in online feud with late gangster's girlfriend

The widow of former gangland enforcer Paul Ferris has been branded an "evil cow" in a bitter online row with a woman who was in a relationship with him during the final years of his life.

Ferris, 62, was laid to rest at Daldowie Crematorium in Glasgow on Monday (October 19) after dying from multiple organ failure and alcoholic liver disease earlier this month. Mourners at his service were told he had been in a relationship with Amanda Lindsay during the final three years of his life.

It has now emerged that Amanda has been involved in a vicious feud with Ferris's widow, Carolyn, alongside another ex-partner, Carolann Chisholm, in the weeks following his death.

Online Tribute Sparks Feud

The spat erupted after Carolyn, who married Ferris in 2008 and shared three children with him, posted an online tribute to her late husband, reports the Daily Record. Carolyn wrote: "I will always love Paul for having given me three wonderful children. To Paul - may you rest easy now. You are finally free from your demons. That is the only comfort I gain from his passing. His suffering is finally over."

Amanda then responded in the comments: "Evil cow". A separate bust-up unfolded between Amanda and Ferris's ex-girlfriend Carolann Chisholm.

Carolann, who was with Ferris for three years after he split from Carolyn, leapt to her defence as she told Amanda: "Oooft, battle of the blondes. Amanda, bit disrespectful to call the mother of his children an evil cow. She only left him, as did I. You enabled him."

Further Spat Over Deleted Tribute

The pair also had a different spat after Carolann shared a now deleted tribute which mentioned his battle with booze. Demanding she remove the post, Amanda blasted Carolann as a "reptile" as she wrote: "He's my f*****g husband and I won't have his personal business put online, you f******g reptile."

Carolann calmly replied: "Don't be ridiculous. He was not your husband." Speaking to the Record, Carolann said: "Amanda was with Paul for a whole 15 minutes of fame. The only people who know what happened are Carolyn and Paul. I have heard both stories and Carolyn has always remained dignified."

A source told the publication that his exes have a mutual dislike for Amanda, but have bonded with each other over wanting what was best for him and his children. They said: "His wife Carolyn is miffed about this whole situation because she has never once spoke to Amanda. She has her three children to think about so she is refusing to get involved in a public spat like this. The other two woman he had children with get on well with Carolyn and she isn't the type to go looking for trouble. Carolann also reached out to her in 2023 when she split up with Paul and they got on too."

Funeral and Mourners

Both of them ended their relationships with Paul because of his drinking and they were worried about how things would end for him because doctors repeatedly warned he was in grave danger. "Carolyn tried everything to help him for their kids' sake but he just refused to stop. When he started going out with Amanda they didn't like her. She called him the 'love of her life' but if that is the case, she wouldn't act like she does."

Amanda Lindsay declined to comment when contacted by the Record. All three women attended Ferris's funeral but Carolann and Carolyn are understood to have left early, while Amanda was pictured outside embracing people who attended.

Over 300 people turned out to pay their respects, including former world champion boxer Alex Arthur, actor Paul Brannigan, ex-UDA boss Johnny Adair and the family of Manchester "Mr Big" Paul Massey. Pictures showed crowds dressed in black as a piper led the cortege to the doors of the crematorium. They bowed their heads as the Ferris family - including his eldest sons Paul and Dean - carried his coffin inside.

Floral arrangements spelling out the words "legend" and "dad" were seen inside the hearse. Dozens of flash cars including Mercedes and BMWs were parked up on the roads outside as people flocked to pay their respects to the Glasgow enforcer. Tearful mourners watched on as his coffin was carried into the crematorium as "I won't back down" by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers played.

His immediate family members then placed a single white rose on top. Mourners heard how Ferris loved his children and had led a colourful life. They were told how Ferris started his career "in the jewellery business" after famously being offered £500 to be the getaway driver for a jewellery robbery and then moved on to work for a local businessman - thought to be a reference to the Godfather Arthur Thompson.

The service also heard how after stretches in prison during the 90s and early 2000s, Ferris was "determined to go straight" and wrote his first of four books. Asking the crowd if Ferris had really stayed away from criminality for the last 25 years, the funeral celebrant quipped: "As Paul would say, no comment." Elton John's Your Song was played as the curtains were drawn. Paul and Carolyn's sons John-Paul and William stood at the exit and thanked mourners for attending.
