Mob Wife Discovers Blinking Device at Home, Suspects Husband's Associates

A woman married to a convicted killer has accused her incarcerated husband of orchestrating a terrifying scare at their former shared home, now suggesting it may have been carried out by one of his criminal associates. Christina Liverano, 40, told the Daily Mail that her husband, Mark Liverano, has been persistently begging for reconciliation from behind bars.

A Terrifying Early Morning Discovery

Christina Liverano was jolted awake at 3am last Thursday to find a blinking package on the stoop of her Staten Island, New York home. This alarming discovery came just four weeks after she had officially filed for divorce from her husband. The mother of two described feeling "terrified" and was forced to flee her residence with her children while filming the suspicious object as evidence for police.

"I wanted police to see evidence of what it was in case I died," she explained to the Daily Mail. The family escaped through their garage in the early hours, as the backyard gate was locked.

Mark Liverano, 58, is identified by police sources as a low-level associate of the notorious Gambino crime family. Christina, an executive at a local college, stated she had previously been "threatened and stalked" and is still recovering from the ordeal.

"We're not even divorced yet, he hasn't been served with the papers that I've filed," she revealed. "I asked him to leave the home in December, he left, and was since arrested but he is still harassing me from behind bars."

The Suspicious Package and Investigation

Photographs obtained by the Daily Mail show the strange device wrapped in white tape with a flashing green light. The NYPD bomb squad was dispatched to the scene, resulting in the evacuation of the entire street. Authorities later determined the object was not a viable explosive device, though an investigation remains ongoing.

Christina called 911 at 4:30am after discovering the package. "There have been several incidents and I have to report everything but this one got a huge response," she said.

A Pattern of Harassment and Threats

The scare was followed by the delivery of two bouquets of flowers hours later, one for Christina and one for her daughter, with a note reading: "Happy Valentines Day, I miss you, love always Mark." Christina described the relationship as "really really toxic."

In December, Mark Liverano was charged by the NYPD with aggravated harassment for allegedly threatening to kill Christina and her children with an AR-15 rifle. According to the criminal complaint, he stated: "I will come to your house and blow up your head with my AR-15, and your kids' head with my AR-15 also."

He was indicted four days later by federal authorities on charges including stalking, extortion, and weapon and drug offenses. Christina's home was raided by the FBI three years ago as part of a separate investigation.

Changing Perceptions and Ongoing Fear

Christina initially dismissed suggestions of her husband's mob connections, believing them to be "just a bunch of old guys hanging out." However, she has since been forced to reconsider. "I didn't think stuff like this still really went on," she admitted.

She has reported multiple incidents of being followed and "cyber attacks" to officials. Restaurant owners in Staten Island have allegedly warned her that her husband knows her whereabouts and demanded she leave.

"He is very, very jealous. He doesn't want me talking to anyone, he doesn't understand we're getting divorced," Christina revealed. "He's very possessive."

A Violent Past and Current Incarceration

Mark Liverano has a history of violence, having pleaded guilty to manslaughter for shooting father-of-two Richard Boeke dead in 2003. He was paroled in August 2014. Currently, he is detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn on a nine-count indictment, awaiting open heart surgery.

The couple married in 2022 after meeting by chance in a tanning salon parking lot. Christina described the wedding at Manhattan's exclusive River Café as her "dream wedding." They separated in early December after eight years together, with Christina citing growing apart and different lifestyle expectations.

"I'm a PhD candidate, and he spent most of his life in prison," she explained. "I think he wanted more of a party lifestyle and I wanted a business and a serious lifestyle."

Legal Representation and Future Concerns

Mark Liverano is represented by lawyer Joseph Corozzo Jr., a well-known mob attorney whose late father was the reputed consigliere of the Gambino crime family. Prosecutors are seeking to remove Corozzo from the case, describing him as a potential fact witness.

Christina expressed her desire to move on with her life. "I had a whole other life before him. I want to continue my life in peace," she said. "I want to continue my professional career, my education. I think there's been enough damage at this point. And I wish him the best."

Despite the terror, she feels "1,000 per cent safer" since her husband has been incarcerated, though the investigation into the blinking device continues.
