Angry Ginge Reports Racist Abuse at World Cup Match

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! winner Angry Ginge, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, has revealed he received abusive messages online after attempting to have a spectator removed from England's goalless World Cup draw against Ghana at Boston Stadium on Tuesday for allegedly making racist comments.

Abuse Follows Anti-Racism Stand

Posts on Burtwistle's Instagram story displayed a series of threatening and abusive comments he claims were directed at him. A caption accompanying the posts read: “Standing up to racism gets you this? What a world we live in.”

In a YouTube video posted on Thursday, Burtwistle, 24, recounted the incident: “The man sat in front was making incredibly racist comments towards the Ghanaian national team. Due to this, it was only right for me to stand up and deal with this. Watch how the stewards deal with this it is actually embarrassing.”

Stewards Failed to Eject Alleged Offender

According to Burtwistle, a steward informed him they “can’t kick him out”. Although the steward appeared to leave the area, Burtwistle later stated the man was not removed from the stadium. He added: “Absolutely not good enough from the American stewards, the message before the games at football is kick it out, if you see it, say it. I’ve gone and reported it, the guy, he’s not been kicked out of the stadium, we saw him as we left, he’s been able to watch the whole game after some of the things he was saying about the Ghana team I’m not even going to repeat.”

Burtwistle, a regular participant in the annual Soccer Aid charity match for England, expressed his outrage: “I think it’s an absolute f****** disgrace he’s been allowed to stay in and watch the game after having evidence on the vlog. I’ve been over and reported it, and five witnesses, literally all of us have heard him say it, and he’s still been able to watch the game.”

FIFA Policy Under Scrutiny

He added that a steward told him the man would have been ejected had he made another racist remark, a policy Burtwistle described as “ridiculous”. FIFA has been contacted for comment regarding the incident and the handling of the complaint.
