An 18-year-old Harry Styles superfan was left in tears after a 300-mile trip to the singer's Wembley gig ended with her mother being denied entry due to a ticket purchased through a reseller. Poppy-Rose Brown had bought two tickets for herself and her mother, Michelle, for the 'Together, Together' tour on Friday, June 12, spending around £300 on tickets listed as from Ticketmaster but bought via Hellotickets, a reseller website.
Journey and Arrival
The duo traveled from their home in Padstow, Cornwall, to Wembley, where Poppy purchased merchandise before heading to the entrance. Poppy scanned her ticket and passed through the turnstile without issue, but when her mother attempted to follow, the turnstile locked. Poppy claims staff were 'rude' and unhelpful, directing them to the ticket office instead of allowing entry through another gate.
Ticket Validation Failure
Poppy said they were escorted out through an emergency exit and went to the Ticketmaster stand. There, staff asked for both IDs and scanned their codes. A staff member later informed them that the tickets could not be reissued because they had been sold by someone else on Hellotickets and were not in Poppy's name. Poppy recalled: 'She came back and said she was really sorry but she couldn't re-issue our tickets. They were sold by somebody else on Hellotickets and it wasn't in my name, which is unfortunate. They said 'you can buy more tickets or you will just have to go'.'
Financial and Emotional Impact
Poppy estimated the total cost of the trip at over £600, including £300 on tickets, £100 on fuel, and £209 on a hotel. She described the experience as 'horrible' and said she was 'in a flood of tears.' Poppy added: 'I've been obsessed with him since I was four years old. It was so horrible. We were in floods of tears. It's just sad.'
Compensation Offer
After sharing her ordeal on social media and criticizing Wembley Stadium's lack of help, the venue offered her two VIP tickets for a different Harry Styles show as compensation. A Wembley Stadium spokesperson said: 'Wembley Stadium has robust ticket verification and security procedures in place at all our events. We strongly encourage all fans attending the stadium to purchase tickets only through authorised channels and to arrive in good time to allow the necessary ticket and security checks to be completed prior to entry.' Ticketmaster and Hellotickets have been contacted for comment.
